I conceived the product inside Liip, validated it under an explicit “try to kill it” mandate, and won the first customer myself. Revenue more than doubled year over year in each of the first three years.
The promise is “digital image processing done right”: upload an image once, then render every variant on demand — format conversion, compression, subject-aware smart cropping and SEO-friendly delivery over a global CDN. Developers get a REST API with SDKs for JavaScript, PHP, Go, Python, Java and Ruby, plus integrations for Symfony, Drupal, Laravel, WordPress and Kirby — so an image uploaded once shows up everywhere, in exactly the right form.
Under the hood it is a self-healing, two-region AWS architecture that survives the complete loss of either region — proven over eight years of 100% rendering uptime while serving a billion hits a day for customers like Migros and FREITAG.
I built the team to fifteen with zero attrition, deliberately moving from coder to teacher to CTO — and left an engineering organization that delivers and scales without its founder.
